Just picked this up at the Vietnamese market. He’s white, but lights up, wiggles his ears, plays music, and blows bubbles when you flip his switch!

Poodle goes to visit a neighbor. Sadly, we are being forced to move. I love this community!
Around 4:45 a.m., I was woken by Powerhäus barking and realized someone was at the door. It was VERY strange, as you might imagine! I couldn’t figure out what was going on and would never hear over him barking, so I said I would be right there and then grabbed PH by the scruff (he doesn’t have a collar on at night) to put him in my room. I was still by the door and it suddenly opened and some guy I have never seen just starts to try to come in and all I could do was say, “my dog WILL kill you”, and he looked down and saw the dog (he could presumably hear barking the entire time!), went, “whoah!”, and stepped back enough for me to close the door, again.
I did take PH to the room and close him in and walked out to the stairs, but the guy was gone. I locked the door in front of PH, who was not satisfied and continues to huff and growl. The man was tall, maybe in his thirties, balding. Caucasian. I find describing him difficult, although I’m sure I’d recognize him if I saw him again. My mom thinks he was most likely a confused drunk. (One time when my brother was very drunk, he went to a stranger’s house across the street from a friend, knocked, and then told the person to get out of his house!) She also suspects he was a burglar, but I doubt it. The timing is poor, and she had a couple of inside lights on because she had just gotten up to go to the restroom.
I think I’ll just keep the door locked, for now!
Silly!
Today’s walk - tall grass
I can’t believe my luck! It’s been at least 2 months since I saw a beautiful Phidippus audax (bold jumping spider), and I’ve been dying to see it, again. I’ve checked the plant it was on several times a day since, with no luck. Today, I noticed this spider nest on the banister outside my house. When I blew gently on the nest, a tiny black and white spider came out. Could it be too good to be true? After all, this baby spider had reddish-colored legs, and I never saw a picture of a baby with red legs. I let the little spider crawl on my hand, and almost as soon as I began to pull my hand in to take a closer look, it leaped! It hopped several more times on the banister; assuring its jumping spider status. And this pic I found online of a Phidippus audax nest even seems to confirm the reddish legs on the babies: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m63ii9U36d1qen9vio1_1280.png !

Okay, so maybe it isn’t the prettiest dish in the world. In fact, I’m not sure I have the presentation right at all, because I never had Larb (laab), before I made it. But I still find it tasty, especially when wrapped in lettuce with Thai basil. I paired some bison with ground pork just to cut the fatiness. Add lime juice, fish sauce, chili flakes, thinly sliced shallot and scallion, cilantro, mint, and toasted crushed rice. Yum!
